One Year.

Today marks my one year anniversary of getting lower braces (well, now it's one year + 10 days since I had trouble uploading the pictures on the actual day).  It's hard to believe it's already been a year.  It's gone by fast and slow at the same time.  While I'm eager to have the surgery sooner rather than later, I have to say that this year wasn't as bad as I thought it would be even though it seems I need to wait longer than most to be surgery ready.

Here are some flash back pics and the current state of affairs:

Before anything began... until now...

  1. you have such a beautiful smile Ellie! And I love the fullness of your lips. Overall, a very pretty smile! Your teeth are nice, big and white too. You must love this feature of yours!!

  2. Tara, thank you! (and thanks for commenting while you're just getting out of surgery!).

Overall, I am happy with my smile, and I'm hoping that the surgery fixes the bite and asymmetry, but without too many other drastic changes. The first dentist I saw for this problem only wanted to do restorative/teeth build-up work to correct my bite. He told me NOT to get braces because if I fixed my flared incisors, I would lose the fullness in my lips. Obviously, that has not happened... I think he just wanted my $$$. $45,000 alone just for the restorations, not including the surgery. Plus, they have to sand part of your teeth down to add the fake tooth material, and I told him that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my teeth except my bite. I have a new team now, and I'm happy.

    Keep healing well!
