Yesterday I had an appointment with my OS (well, I thought I did). It had been scheduled long before, because he is almost always all booked up. It is busy season for me. Work has been crazy.
When I got to the office, they asked why I was there. I said I had an appointment. They said I didn't. They were quite rude about it. Now, my OS is great and his assistant is great. But the women up at the front desk, they can be really nasty at times. Rude on the phone, rude in person. They act like the last thing they want to do is have anything to do with you. I always feel somewhat stupid after dealing with them. It was not my fault that they didn't put my appointment in their scheduling book, but it certainly felt like it must have been.
The appointment was just supposed to be the time when I got my hospital and surgery information packet and to have a chance to ask any questions before the pre-op appointment, which is in early May. I at least was able to get the packet.
It was just so frustrating. I don't understand why my OS has these people at the front desk...
On a happier note, when I drove to an engagement site a couple of weeks ago, I passed by a sign that said "Bee's Body Shop" with cute little bees on it. I got really excited, thinking there was an entire store dedicated to Burts Bees! I got clued in when I saw the parking lot full of beat up cars and realized it was a different kind of body shop...
Ellie, I completely know how annoyed you feel with your surgeons staff. It confuses me so much that they hire administrative staff that have no social skills whatsoever. I'm a business student and every course I take has some aspect of being a people person, because you can't do business if you're scaring people away. My surgeons staff is the same, they actually changed my appointment time twice, and didn't tell me. When I got there they just said, "oh, you're really early" meanwhile they had a completely different time down for my appointment than the one they gave me.
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, you're a little closer to being done with all of that and one day we won't have to worry about dealing with these rude people.
Best of luck :D
UGH. I left my general doctor's practice because he had a condescending moron at the front desk. She wasn't very good at her job, but then she was mean about it! The doctor was an OK doctor, but he wasn't awesome enough for me to put up with his receptionist.
ReplyDeleteYou are getting so close!
Sucks to be them. It must be horrible being so mierable all of the time. Don't let the b*stards grind you down! ;)
