This x-ray really shows the asymmetry in my jaw. The x-ray tech kept telling me to hold my head straight, and I kept saying, "I am!" (I mean, hello--it's pretty hard not to hold your head straight when you have those rod things stuck in your ears...) The x-ray is from 2009, when I first started investigating treatment options, but before I had anything done. Some of the asymmetry is a structural problem that I've always had. It's gotten worse as the stress from my uneven bite has worn down the jaw joint on the left side. You can see how the top jaw is also tilted. My sinuses are somewhat caved in too, so I am hoping that the surgery will help me breathe and sleep better.
