I started this blog one year ago. Surgery seemed so far away then, and now it is just around the corner!
Here are some pics showing the changes in my bite. I am biting down as far as I can in all of these pictures (including the last one!). Right now, I have only one point of contact. As I've gone through the splint therapy, it's become clear that my problem is not so much overjet (though I do have some), but mostly an open bite and crossbite due to the asymmetry.

| Can't wait to say goodbye to this! |
Hey Ellie! you must be so excited about surgery! Im glad to hear the year went quickly for you, I hope I can say then same soon. Ive only been on braces for 6 weeks and it feels like Ive had them F.O.R.E.V.E.R!
ReplyDeleteHi Ellie! I am sure you are getting excited about your surgery! I am having surgery for an overbite as well on the 16th of May. I am excited, but very nervous! I just entered blog land and I have enjoyed looking through your blog and look forward to following your story!
ReplyDeleteI had a similar bite for most of my life. It's soooo weird to see my top teeth close over my bottom teeth now! I'm banging my front teeth off of everything as I relearn how to talk, eat, drink, breath. It's a fantastic process. Good luck with your surgery, and good bye to the non-functional open bite!
ReplyDeleteThank you, ladies!
ReplyDelete@ Hara--I am so excited! When I started this process, it did seem like forever, but it really has gone by fast for me, but it didn't always seem that way during the process.
@ Britany--Thanks for following! Only one more week for you! You must be excited too. Wishing you all the best on your big day!
@ Nichole--I can't even imagine what it would be like to bite into something. I haven't been able to for so long. How is your healing coming? Is the swelling in your cheeks going down?
It's progressing at a snail's pace. But any forward progress is something to be thankful for. Not allowed to bite into anything yet, nor would I be able to. Still sore and my front teeth are quite tender. But I will get there eventually. I'll have to post pics soon. I think my cheeks are slowly deflating :)
